Biography

Damon Anderson is an independent advisor and market analyst specialising in AI and accounting software. He works with founders, investors, and accounting firms at a moment of genuine structural change in how financial workflows are built - and who builds them.

Before launching his independent practice, Damon spent two decades operating at the commercial centre of some of the most significant platforms in fintech and accounting. At Xero, he spent five years scaling the UK and EMEA business, progressing to Regional COO and UK Board member. He grew UK revenue from $37m to $292m across 850,000+ customers, with 52% year-on-year growth.

At Worldpay, he built the global eCommerce product organisation from scratch and owned a $500m product P&L through the company's 2015 London Stock Exchange IPO. More recently, he served as Board Advisor and CMO at iplicit, architecting an end-to-end GTM redesign that doubled ARR from £5m to £10m within twelve months.

He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Nuvo, advising the board on technology strategy and commercial growth across a 19-office national practice named the UK's fastest growing accountancy firm in 2025, targeting a top-25 position by 2030.

That operating background - across product, commercial, and strategy - shapes how this report was written. Not from the outside looking in, but from someone who has lived inside the decisions these markets are now facing.

Report Foreword
The Report
Methodology

The A to Z of AI Accounting Software is the product of several months of primary research, including interviews with software founders, CFOs, accounting practice leaders, and investors. It covers the full accounting technology stack, from data ingestion through to close, reporting, and audit.

The ambition is the definitive guide to this market. Not a pay-to-play report. There is too much noise in this category and not enough signal. Every vendor is assessed on the same framework; inclusion reflects relevance, nothing else. Independence and editorial honesty are the point - a document with real authority for the people building, buying, and investing in this ecosystem.
