Introducing Choose Wisely, the A to Z podcast
By Damon Anderson, 13 October 2026. 2 minute read.

The world did not need another podcast. We made one anyway.
Choose Wisely is the podcast from the A to Z of AI Accounting Software. It exists for one reason: buying software has become harder than building it, and the people doing the buying deserve better help than a sales deck and a bowl of jelly beans on an exhibition stand.
Why a podcast
Every vendor in accounting now claims AI. Some of it is a genuine rebuild of how the work gets done. Some of it is a new label on an old product. From the outside, the two look identical.
The A to Z was built to tell them apart. We track hundreds of vendors, score them on evidence rather than marketing, and publish a World Ranking that changes when the evidence changes. A ranking tells you who is ahead. A conversation tells you why. Choose Wisely is where those conversations happen.
What to expect
Straight conversations with the people building, buying and using AI in accounting. Founders who can explain what their product actually does. Practitioners who have rolled it out and lived with the results. Investors who have seen a hundred pitches and backed a handful.
No jargon. No paid placements. And a firmly optimistic view of what good technology can do for people, because the point of all this is better work and better lives, not more software.
Episode one: the host in the hot seat
For the first episode, the questions point the other way. Damon Anderson, founder of the A to Z and formerly of Xero, is interviewed by his partner, Ellie Black.
It covers building a marketplace in the back of a newspaper at eight years old, why he describes himself as unemployable, the moment he stopped looking for someone else's vision and started building his own, and why he thinks good technology should mean we use less of it.
Episode one lands on Thursday 15 October.
